Welcome to the Children's Department!

The Harnett County Public Library Children’s Department serves youth from birth through age 18. Our programs foster a love of reading and learning among the youth of our community. We serve to meet the dynamic needs of children and the challenges they face to prepare them for a better future. From storytimes, STEM programming and teen activities, to afterschool and homeschool programs, we have something for everyone!


Main Library Storytime
Available for toddlers on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM
Available for preschoolers on Thursdays at 10:00 AM
(registration required)

Boone Trail Library Outdoor Storytime
Available for all ages on Tuesdays at 11:00 AM
September through May
(weather permitting, no registration required)

Storytime in the Park
Available for all ages on Fridays at 10:00 AM at Anderson Creek Park
May 6th - June 10th and September 2nd - October 14th
(weather permitting, no registration required)

Whatcha Reading? Book Club

Reading something delightful??? Reading something deplorable??? Doesn’t matter... Come and discuss whatever you have been reading.
This 1-hour program is for ages 9 - 12. Spots are limited. Registration is required for each individual attending. Visit our calendar for meeting dates and details.
